Summary

Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still。

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets。 Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos。

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person。 What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa’s power for his own。

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them。 She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm’s length…everyone, that is, but Tessa。 As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world…and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all。

"If no one in the entire world cared about you, did you really exist at all?"I am still incredibly confused。 How was this written by the same author that created The Mortal Instruments, who actually chose Clary and Jace to star in her novel? Her only role is to piss everyone off, and she had so, so much pagetime。 More than Jem, and maybe even Will, which doesn't even make any sense。 She's mysogynistic and rude and just altogether。。。 ugh。 (b) The lack of Jem。 I cannot stress this enough。 I like Will, but I thought him and Jem were supposed to be tied in their role in the story。 But somehow there was so much more of him。(c) The romance。 It was kind of weird。 They way Will left it off didn't really make sense。 (d) The ending was also kind of abrupt, but maybe it was just because of the ebook。But there are so many more good things。 Like Tessa, for example。 A much more grounded and compassionate MC than Clary, whose only quality I can remember is going around slapping everyone for no reason。 The only character in TMI I could actually tolerate was Simon, and even he was pretty boring。 But here, the characters were everything, and I couldn't really put it down。 Everything was just great。 But。If there is not enough Jem in the next book, then I swear 。。。more

3。5⭐️ 。。。more

I absolutely fell inlove with all the characters! Jem, Will & Tessa! Ugh! Its such a love triangle done right! I also lived how Cassandra Clare’s writing improved so much since the first TMI books。 It’s so satisfying to see an author groe and watch how they progress。 🤗 The plot also got me hooked immediately and if I wasn’t busy with work (& life) I would’ve finished this in one sitting。 Can’t wait to start Clockwork Prince。 💜

I liked Clockwork Angel。 I loved most of the characters, except Jessamine and Nathaniel。 I want to know who and what Tessa really, why Will asked Magnus's help at the end and what that help was, as well as I want to know can Jem be cured。I also cared about Chalotte and Henry and I wonder what's going to happen in further books, their trial before Enclave(?)I gelt it dragged a little bit in the middle and also felt the chapters are lengthy。(Reading this after 5 months of reading slump)。Overall, I I liked Clockwork Angel。 I loved most of the characters, except Jessamine and Nathaniel。 I want to know who and what Tessa really, why Will asked Magnus's help at the end and what that help was, as well as I want to know can Jem be cured。I also cared about Chalotte and Henry and I wonder what's going to happen in further books, their trial before Enclave(?)I gelt it dragged a little bit in the middle and also felt the chapters are lengthy。(Reading this after 5 months of reading slump)。Overall, I enjoyed the book。 。。。more

This was a decent book written by Clare。 I have to say, I think that although the setting is absolutely beautiful and well researched; I think I liked City of Bones more than this one。 I felt like there was going to be much more to the story。 I am still excited to move on to Clockwork Prince and Princess。 My ultimate goal is to get to Chain of Gold and Iron。 They look fantastic。 Other than these minor complaints the book was entertaining and well done。 Good ole' you tube just goes and overhypes This was a decent book written by Clare。 I have to say, I think that although the setting is absolutely beautiful and well researched; I think I liked City of Bones more than this one。 I felt like there was going to be much more to the story。 I am still excited to move on to Clockwork Prince and Princess。 My ultimate goal is to get to Chain of Gold and Iron。 They look fantastic。 Other than these minor complaints the book was entertaining and well done。 Good ole' you tube just goes and overhypes everything。 Needless to say Tessa is an interesting character and I am excited to read more books that she is in。 。。。more

“One must always be careful of books and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us。”Despite being in a reading slump and having final exams, I really enjoyed this book! I’ve heard great things about this series, so I look forward to where this story is headed。 Although Will had his moments, I love all of the characters。 Jem Carstairs is my new comfort character btw 😌。 I LOVE Tessa, but the ONLY problem I have with her is the fact that she hates chocolate 😤。 As Will Herondale sai “One must always be careful of books and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us。”Despite being in a reading slump and having final exams, I really enjoyed this book!

Re-read: This series is such a comfort read for me! I can never pinpoint exactly what makes me love these characters so much or what made me read it again, but I just do!I love how atmospheric these books are, I love the friendships and the aspect of found families。 I love how nerdy Will and Tessa are。 I love how kind Jem is。 I just love everything about these books! I know it's not a very objective review, but sometimes that's the case with books。 Your comfort books are your comfort books。 Abso Re-read: This series is such a comfort read for me! I got my best friend (who HATES reading) invested in this book series。 I’m so happy too, since this series is one of my favorites written by one of my favorite authors。 I can sometimes be pretty picky when it comes to the books I read。 However, these books fit perfectly into what I’m interested in and now I can’t pass up a Cassandra Clare book。 I find that even though I’ve reread these particular books so many times, the story still has my interest。 Even after so many years, I still adore these I got my best friend (who HATES reading) invested in this book series。 I’m so happy too, since this series is one of my favorites written by one of my favorite authors。 I can sometimes be pretty picky when it comes to the books I read。 However, these books fit perfectly into what I’m interested in and now I can’t pass up a Cassandra Clare book。 I find that even though I’ve reread these particular books so many times, the story still has my interest。 Even after so many years, I still adore these characters, the time period, plot points, and the dialogue never fails to make me smile each time I decide to read it。 I originally read The Infernal Devices near the end of 6th Grade and I swear I thought Tessa was the coolest freakin’ protagonist。 I wanted to be like her。 My mom bought me a little Clockwork Angel necklace and I constantly wore it until the chain broke。 I’m 19 now, and I’ve just recently started reading this again since my close friend decided to pick up these wonderful books。 It feels the same as when I first read this series。 Honestly, this has been such a wonderful escape for me since I’ve just recently graduated high school and my life feels pretty hectic at the moment with all the changes I’m going through。 If you ever see this, Thank you Cassandra Clare for creating such a captivating world that I don’t think I’ll ever be tired of revisiting。 I’m only 19 but growing up reading your books has really inspired me to take up writing。 Though, there’s a lot I still need to improve on, I hope to publish books in the future。 I’d like to be able to give someone else the joy that you have given me。 Thank you 💕 。。。more

She is a BIBLIOPHILE like us。 She lives in the fictional world, she relates the real-world events to the bookish world, she uses character references。 What else do we need when we have such a relatable character。 Also, she's witty and generous at the same time。Will being Will, cracks the lamest jokes in the worse situations。 Jem is indeed a Jem! Don't ever dare to ignore him, unless you want to regret it later。 The characters in this series are widely diverse and all of them have a tragic backstory, which is the reason why readers end up rooting for them despite their flaws and selfishness。It actually takes a lot of time to dive into the actual thrilling set of events, which is an inconvenience indeed。 However, you can enjoy the writing and characters by then。 。。。more
